2014 July 25,Ranchi: A one day Workshop on “Cyber Forensics and demonstration of indigenously developed Cyber Forensics tools” was organized by Information & Technology Department, Govt. of Jharkhand and Criminal Investigation Department, Jharkhand at Ranchi on July 10, 2014, in association with Resource Centre for Cyber Forensics, C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram. Mr. Balan C, Joint Director, and Mr. Ajith Ravindran, Project Engineer, RCCF, C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram imparted the training. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Shri. Rajiv Kumar IPS, DGP, Jharkhand in the presence of Shri. N.N Sinha IAS, IT Secretary, Govt. of Jharkhand, Shri S.N Pradhan IPS, ADGP, Smt S. Meena IPS, IGP and other senior officials from the Jharkhand State Police. More than 120 DSPs and Sub Inspectors attended the workshop.
The workshop started with a session on the Cyber Forensics principles, procedures and Cyber Forensics tools, followed by demonstrations of various Cyber Forensics tools (TrueBack, CyberCheck, F-DAC, F-RAN, MobileCheck, AdVik – CDR Analyser, NeSA, and WinLiFT), indigenously developed by C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram, and a case study depicting a real-life situation.
The workshop was helpful for the police officials to understand the importance of Cyber Forensics while handling the investigation of cyber crimes, along with proper procedures that need to be followed throughout cyber crime cases. The workshop was well appreciated by senior police officials.Shri. Rezi Dung Dung, IPS, ADGP, Jharkhand Police was the chief guest for the Valedictory function.
