::Workshop at Jammu

2014 November 26,Jammu: A one day Workshop on “Cyber Crimes” was organized by Technical Services Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Jammu on November 26, 2014, in association with Resource Centre for Cyber Forensics, C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram. Mr. Balan C, Joint Director, and Mr. Cyril Joseph Fernandez, Senior Project Engineer, RCCF, C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram imparted the training. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Shri. S.P Vaid, ADGP, Jammu in the presence of Shri. H.K Lohia, Inspector General of Police (Technical Services). Among others, the workshop was also attended by DIG Crime, Johny William; SSP Crime, Mubashir Latifi; SSP Vigilance, Mohammad Yasin Kichloo; AIG (CIV), Shailendra Mishra; DySP (IMS), Musadiq Basu; DySp (Ops), Jammu Bikram Bhagat and other officers and officials of Crime, Vigilance and FSL.

During the day long workshop, two technical sessions were held and experts from CDAC delivered lectures on various subjects of Cyber Crimes, Cyber Forensics principles, procedures and Cyber Forensics tools, followed by demonstrations of various Cyber Forensics tools ( CyberCheck, MobileCheck, NeSA, WinLiFT etc.), indigenously developed by C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram. In the second session of the workshop, experts threw light on the various important issues with regard to crime control and use of latest methods of investigation. Question-answer session was held and the experts replied to various points raised by the participants. During the two sessions of the workshop, the participants showed keen interest in experiencing latest techniques of investigation.

The workshop was helpful for the police officials to understand the importance of Cyber Forensics while handling the investigation of cyber crimes, along with proper procedures that need to be followed throughout cyber crime cases. The workshop was well appreciated by Shri. H.K Lohia, Inspector General of Police ( Technical Services ). He said the aim of organizing the workshop was to upgrade the officers and officials related to the crime wings of the department and acquaint them with the latest methods of investigation.
